Peel Health Campus Transformation
It is an exciting time for Peel Health Campus and a new chapter in its history.
On Tuesday 13th August 2024 Peel Health Campus (PHC) returned to a Government-operated facility, with 95 per cent of existing staff transitioning to the hospital and new staff recruited, bringing the total number of doctors, nurses, allied health and support staff to nearly 1,100.
This transition allows the South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) to link and align clinical services provided at other WA Health sites for the people of the Peel region.
New uniforms were unveiled, based on local Aboriginal artwork, and a newly created Aboriginal Health Liaison Officer role will work out of Peel Health Campus.
A new insourced pharmacy service now operates at the hospital, which will mean patients will not be invoiced for their medications on discharge.
Significant work has occurred to ensure a safe and seamless handover of operations including the update and transfer of ICT systems, enhancements to equipment and support for staff to ensure continued clinical excellence.
Exciting Progress for Peel Health Campus Redevelopment - Tender open for Peel Health Campus redevelopment forward works
The Peel Health Campus (PHC) redevelopment has taken a significant step forward with the release of a tender for crucial forward works. This marks a key milestone in the Cook Government’s ambitious plan to upgrade PHC and enhance healthcare services for the Mandurah community and beyond.
A Two-Stage Transformation for Peel Health Campus
The tender, now available on Tenders WA, outlines a two-stage approach to upgrading the hospital’s infrastructure. These forward works are set to include:

This redevelopment follows PHC’s return to public hands in August 2024, ensuring that it remains a high-quality healthcare provider for the community.
What This Means for Our Community
The Cook Government’s $152 million investment will deliver much-needed upgrades, including:
-
A new Mental Health Emergency Centre

More than 60 additional inpatient beds
-
15 new palliative care hospice beds

An additional operating theatre
-
12 chemotherapy places
-
Expanded outpatient and medical imaging services

An expanded day procedure unit
This redevelopment is more than just an infrastructure upgrade; it’s about meeting the growing needs of our local community with modern, accessible, and compassionate care.
An Opportunity for Local Contractors
With the tender closing on October 7, 2024, contractors have the chance to contribute to a project that will benefit not only the Peel region but also the wider community. The enabling works are expected to begin by the end of the year, laying the foundation for a revitalized health campus that will serve us for generations to come.
